From Vicki (Bethany’s mom):

Bethany is out of surgery and will be in the ICU for 24 hours, then moved to her room at the hospital. We were surprised when Sasha got the call from Dr. Gilete shortly after 5:30 pm – 2 1/2 hours earlier than expected! We quickly got ready and headed straight to the hospital, but still had to wait a bit for her to be moved to the ICU. After that we could go in to see her, two of us at a time.

Dr. Gilete assured us all had gone well, and that the surgery went as anticipated. Only hours after surgery and she said she has feeling in her left leg again. She does have significant post surgery neck pain, which we had been advised would be the case, but the pain medication for that should start working soon.

In typical Bethany style, she did joke a bit about the pain, I heard her laugh when she and Sasha were together, and she told us all that she loved us. Sasha stayed with her a bit longer while the rest of us went for supper, and Gordon just headed back to the hospital to trade Sasha off.

We are so thankful for all the messages, and continue to hope for a good recovery. It’s been a good day.
